2015 Pennsylvania Convention Center, CGI

In March 2015, I submitted a proposal to the Open Call for Entries for Art @ the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

In trying to capture the combination of anonymity and individuality that permeates our lives, I created “Diversity.” The work was inspired in part by antiquity, old portrait paintings, and identity photographs we see in school yearbooks, passports, driver’s licenses and mug shots. The computer generated images in this project depict stylized portraits of ambiguous figures situated against a nondescript black background. Even though the figures are of the same shape and size, each one has its own individual pattern and unique personality. Designed specifically for the Pennsylvania Convention Center, I created 67 images to represent the number of counties in Pennsylvania. These works prompt the viewer to consider the diversity that exists within our seemingly anonymous lives and appreciate the richness of our community.

Each of the 67 images is an original photo print, mounted to an aluminum Dibond panel, and sealed under acrylic glass. The dimensions of each image are 16 by 12 by .25 inches.

Today I received a notice that my proposal was not accepted.
